SRI GANESHA CHATURTHI
On
the Thursday past (17th), the great Ganapati Mahotsav took place. Celebration
of the elephant-faced Lord; in whose devotion we find strength to face and
overcome obstacles, to rein-in our ego, to learn the joy of sharing. The eye
indicates His intelligence; the trunk, His flexibility and sensitivity; the
ears, His eagerness and ability to listen. How is it that the Lord had this
head, however? How come His vahana (vehicle) was a rat? In what manner is intelligence proved when Ganesha is to marry?
For
some fun, here is an animation of these stories of Ganesha. Yes, it is for
children - elephants are all about family! - but are we not all children in the
eyes of the Lord? Let your inner child smile with joy under the blessings of
