First Sunday in Advent... of the birth of the Lord Jesus. Each Sunday a candle is lit; there are a variety of traditions around this, but one which is rather enjoyable is that it represents the might star which lit the way for the three Eastern kings and the shepherds as they sought out the newborn. In modern times, each candle has taken on a specific meaning. First is for hope.
