Each 'Choose-day' we will investigate the process by
which we can reassess our activity and interaction with the world of plurality
and become more congruent within our personality.
We are reading "Tips for Happy
Living - jIvnsUÇai[
/jiivanasuutraani", by Swami Tejomayananda (Guru-ji). Choose-days writings
are here to prompt deeper thinking on the choices made on a daily basis and
seek to provide prompts for raising the standard of one's thinking and living.
This text composed in format of Sanskrit traditional teachings, speaks directly
to this purpose. As ever, the full text may be obtained from CM Publications - or your local centre
(see sidebar).
Last
post from this stretch of study! The final few shlokas of Guruj-ji's simple yet
powerful message. The life we have is ours to run as we wish, it is governed by choices no matter our condition, and those choices can raise us or dump us.

There is no end to aphorisms on Life.
Because endless and deep, indeed, is the ocean of
learning.
At no time, place and situation should one forget God
and His grace.
This indeed is the best aphorism.
These
last few verses serve to reset the focus of the student, ensuring that one does
not gain an ego even about one's learnedness! Truly, there is something which
can be learned in every single day, in every hour of every day, if the student
is keen and alert and open. Each experience holds lessons. If we can't find
them ourselves, then we can turn to our elders and betters for 'tips for happy
living'. Seek out the words and examples which inspire you, seek the company of
those wiser than yourself, acknowledge your own worth but also acknowledge the
need to improve. Never, at any time, think that you and you alone are
responsible for what happens in life - always acknowledge that who you are and
what you have, whilst determined to some extent by your responses to life, are
brought to you by something more, a level of greater existence, of which you
are a part; this is the most levelling and useful tip in life.
